Councilman-elect King statement on the passing of Nelson Mandela

Elizabeth City, NC-. I was still in my mothers womb when Mandela was freed from prison on February, 11, 1990, but I grew up knowing who this great man was. Nelson Mandela’s exemplary leadership serves as an example for all to follow. My heart is heavy, beacuse Mandela’s principles of peace and fairness, has had a profound impact on my life. I thank God for blessing the world with “Madiba”. He will forever be remembered for his courage and leadership, and my children will know him too. May God continue to bless the Mandela family.
